Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

At Fountain Wellness & Aesthetics, we specialize in helping women regain their vitality through personalized Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). Our goal is to address the root cause of your symptoms and provide a path toward long-term wellness and hormonal balance.

Signs of Hormonal Imbalance or Deficiency

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Mood swings, irritability, or anxiety
  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
  • Low libido or sexual dysfunction
  • Insomnia or poor sleep quality
  • Hair loss or thinning skin

Understanding Hormonal Imbalance in Women

Perimenopausal Women

During perimenopause, estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate significantly. This transition can last several years before menopause, often causing irregular cycles and a wide array of physical and emotional symptoms as the body prepares for its next phase.

Postmenopausal Women

Postmenopause is reached after 12 consecutive months without a cycle. At this stage, hormone production drops even further, potentially increasing the risk for bone density loss and cardiovascular changes, making balanced hormone support crucial for long-term health.

Benefits of Bioidentical Hormones

Bioidentical hormones are plant-derived compounds that are chemically identical to those produced by the human body. Because they mimic your natural hormones exactly, they offer potential safety and efficacy advantages over synthetic alternatives. They are often referred to as natural hormone replacement therapy. Fountain Wellness & Aesthetics provides individualized plans tailored to your unique laboratory results and health profile.

Frequently Asked Questions About BHRT

What is BHRT?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a treatment designed to help balance hormone levels using hormones that are chemically similar to those naturally produced by the body. BHRT may be used to support wellness and help manage symptoms associated with hormonal changes in both men and women.

What symptoms may BHRT help support?

BHRT is commonly used to help support individuals experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Fatigue or low energy

  • Mood changes or irritability

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating

  • Low libido

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Weight management challenges

  • Hot flashes or night sweats

  • Reduced muscle mass or strength

Symptoms and results vary from person to person.

Who is a candidate for BHRT?

Adults experiencing symptoms related to hormonal imbalance or age-related hormone decline may be candidates for BHRT. A consultation, health history review, and lab testing are typically used to determine whether treatment may be appropriate.

How does BHRT work?

BHRT works by helping restore hormone levels to a more balanced range. Treatment plans are individualized based on symptoms, health history, and laboratory testing.

What hormones are commonly used in BHRT?

Depending on individual needs, BHRT may involve hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or DHEA.

Is BHRT safe?

BHRT should only be prescribed and monitored by qualified healthcare professionals. As with any medical treatment, there are potential risks and benefits. Regular follow-up appointments and lab monitoring are important parts of therapy.

How is BHRT administered?

BHRT may be provided in several forms, including:

  • Creams or gels

  • Capsules or tablets

  • Injections

  • Patches

  • Pellets

Your provider will recommend the option best suited to your goals and medical history.

What are hormone pellets?

Hormone pellets are small implants placed beneath the skin that release hormones gradually over time. Pellet therapy is one delivery method used in some BHRT treatment plans.

How long does it take to notice results?

Some individuals notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may require several months to experience the full effects of treatment. Results vary depending on the individual and treatment plan.

Will I need lab work before starting BHRT?

Yes. Most BHRT programs include laboratory testing to evaluate hormone levels and help create a personalized treatment plan.

How often will I need follow-up appointments?

Follow-up visits and periodic lab testing are commonly recommended to monitor hormone levels, track progress, and adjust treatment if needed.

Can men and women both receive BHRT?

Yes. BHRT may be used to support hormonal balance in both men and women experiencing symptoms associated with hormone changes or aging.

Are there side effects associated with BHRT?

Possible side effects vary depending on the hormones used and the individual. Some people may experience temporary changes such as bloating, acne, mood changes, or tenderness. Your provider will discuss potential risks and side effects before treatment.

Is BHRT the same as traditional hormone replacement therapy?

BHRT uses hormones that are structurally similar to those naturally produced by the body. Traditional hormone therapy may use synthetic or non-bioidentical hormones. Your provider can help explain the differences and determine what may be appropriate for you.

Can BHRT help with weight management?

Balanced hormones may help support metabolism, energy, and body composition as part of a healthy lifestyle plan. BHRT is not a substitute for proper nutrition, exercise, or medical weight-loss treatment.

How do I get started with BHRT?

Getting started typically involves a consultation, symptom review, medical history evaluation, and laboratory testing to create a personalized treatment plan.
